Goddess Ma Choe Po Kwan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy Datuk Poh Seng Tye Tay (left)
and
Datuk Hiap Tian Tye Tay

Built in 1704 by Kapitan Li Wei King’s son-in-law, Chan Ki Lock, the Main Temple Hall is dedicated to Kwan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. Today, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple remains centred around the main altar and its principal deity.

The concentric arrangement features Kwan Yin in the middle. The left altar is dedicated to the Goddess Ma Choe Po, Guardian of Fishermen and Seamen. On the right are the deities :
Datuk Poh Seng Tye Tay - Guardian Deity of Well Being and Datuk Hiap Tian Tye Tay or God Kwan Ti - God of Justice and his assistants, and also Thai Sway Yah (God of Worldly Human Welfare).

 

Besides Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple incorporated manages eight other temples. These are:-

Cheng Wah Keong Geok Ee Keong
Thian Teck Keong Leong San Teng
