Teng Choos of Cheng Hoon Teng

After 1824, the temple’s "Teng Choo" (President of the Temple Board) assumed some of the Kapitan China’s responsibilities. Besides heading the temple, Teng Choos also looked after the affairs of the Chinese community but only on matters relating to their spiritual needs.
